The origin of the name of the hotel's restaurant goes back to the 18th century to the 'Inn to the Red Oxen with Billiard' that was situated in the exact same location. Today's interior design - with the red walls and an elegant billiard room - brings up memories of old with modern furnishings.

Area information

2000 years ago, under Roman Dominion, this tiny settlement lying at the feet of the Mecsek Hills developed itself into a big town, receiving the name - Sopianae - of Celtic origin. According to archaeological finds even prehistoric people found the light slopes of Mecsek fit for habitation.

Nowadays Pécs is the fifth most densely inhabited town of Hungary - and it owes its worldwide reputation to its rich cultural life.
